System cleansing and power flushing

Many boiler breakdowns are caused by dirty water and sludge within the boiler system. When this builds up, it can have a huge effect on how well your boiler runs and how efficiently it performs.

Cleansing and powerflushing will improve your central heating system, help you use less energy and keep your home warm. We recommend a powerflush for your system every 5 years.

From Aberdeen to Auchtermuchty, we provide the East Coast of Scotland with expert system cleansing and powerflushing for home and commercial heating systems.

Services

We provide a number of services to clean your heating system:

Powerflushing

Powerflushing is used for more serious buildups of sludge. A machine is attached to your system which sends high-pressure water mixed with a powerful chemical around the system. A powerflush breaks down any rust or debris from pipes, radiators, and your boiler. This prevents any existing build-ups of sludge or debris from becoming more serious issues.

Before a powerflush

Hot water cannot flow throughout the radiator due to blockages:
Before a powerflush radiators are blocked

During a powerflush

Chemicals are pumped through the radiator to dissolve and remove any blockages:

After a powerflush

Hot water can flow through the entire radiator:

Chemical flush

A chemical flush introduces a chemical into your system. This chemical works over the course of several days to destroy sludge, rust and limescale. Afterwards, the system is drained and refilled using a suitable inhibitor to stop further degradation.

MagnaClean

A MagnaClean is a professional system cleansing tool that is attached to your central heating system to eliminate the iron oxide particles. This lengthens the life of your system and increases the efficiency of your boiler.

Benefits of regular system cleansing and powerflushing

Having your system professionally cleaned or flushed will help prolong the life of your system, lower your bills and reduce the risk of breakdowns.

How you can tell if your heating system requires a cleanse or powerflush

We recommend getting your heating system serviced every year. This service should include checks for the performance of your boiler and radiators, looking for possible build-ups or corrosion.

Your central heating system requires an immediate clean or flush if:

  • Your radiators and boiler are noisy
  • Your radiators are leaking
  • Your radiators have cold patches, especially near the bottom
  • Your boiler stops working and needs to be restarted
  • There is excessive noise from the boiler or the pump
  • Your central heating system takes longer than expected to heat up
  • Your tap water is cloudy
  • Some radiators don’t heat as well as others
  • Your radiators don’t get warm when the heating is switched on
  • No water comes out when you bleed a radiator
  • If when you bleed a radiator, the water is discoloured
