What is OFTEC?
OFTEC is the trade association for the heating industry in the UK and Ireland. It provides a competent person registration scheme for work performed on oil central heating and hot water systems.
To become OFTEC registered, all technicians must undertake an approved training course and assessment. They are also inspected regularly by OFTEC to ensure their work meets the required standard.
Why is OFTEC important?
Finding a competent technician to install or service heating equipment used to be a challenge. That changed in 2002 when the British government introduced the idea of an officially recognised ‘competent person schemes’ for a range of building trades. The aim was to improve standards within the building industry and to remove some of the guesswork for the general public.
OFTEC’s competent person scheme is a register of installers of oil central heating, water tank, and renewable heating equipment. Without this scheme, it may not be clear who you could trust to work on the equipment in your home.
What does this mean for you?
We work hard to achieve these accreditations and standards. We keep our engineers fully-trained with the latest industry-standard equipment and techniques.
This ensures we can deliver our services to you in a safe and timely manner. It also gives you reassurance and peace of mind.
